Stand up for Jesus at your school
CRU knows it can be hard to share Jesus with your friends and stay strong in your faith at school. That’s why we have 8 full-time staff workers to visit, support and speak at your CRU lunchtime groups, give Bible talks at chapel and help train students for Christian leadership.
Only 1 in 7 Australians attend church regularly,*
and many young people don’t know Jesus.
We are on a mission to help change that.
We know from experience that most Christians make a decision for Christ before the age of 18 – which is why ministry in schools is so important. For many students who do not attend church with their families, contact with CRU at school may be the only opportunity they have to hear about God’s great love for them and His precious gift to us in Jesus.
CRU’s Schools Ministry staff actively support Christian ministry in 223 Independent schools across NSW, WA and the ACT.
We are passionate about:
Helping to establish and run lunchtime CRU Groups
Writing creative Biblical resources for use in lunchtime CRU Groups
Being dedicated to praying for students, chaplains and teachers each week
Running Inter-CRUs (inter-school events) so high school students from different schools can meet
Providing training to students through FIT events for Years 5 & 6 and CrossTrain camp for Year 7-12
Supporting school chaplains and teachers throughout the year with teacher training days and our biennial Teachers’ Conference
CRU Groups help students connect, receive support and grow
A CRU Group is an extra-curricular volunteer group where students can explore Christianity and learn how to live out their faith at school. Designed for both junior and senior school students, at CRU Groups students gather together to hear from the Bible, pray together, have fun and encourage each other in their walk with Jesus. For many students, it’s their ‘church’.
When a student chooses to set aside one lunchtime a week to go to CRU Group, they show their friends that Jesus is important to them. What a great witness! CRU Groups provide an amazing opportunity for school students to explore the Bible, experience Christian community and be encouraged to live for Jesus at school.
CRU has over 200 CRU Groups meeting in Independent schools across NSW, ACT and WA, and has further connections with another 20 schools. CRU Groups usually meet weekly at lunchtime, but some groups meet before or after school.

School visits
CRU’s Schools Ministry team members are keen to visit your school at least once a term. We do this to support and pray with the teachers and chaplains, and to train and disciple student leaders. It also provides an opportunity for us to let your students know about upcoming CRU events and holiday camps. Our team members love to get involved in the life your school through giving Bible talks, running programs and games, speaking at chapel services, training leaders and helping out with CRU Groups or the wider ministry of the school. Our CRU staff want to support you and your school in any way we can. For more information contact crugroups@cru.edu.au
